John Paul Shannon age 82, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 26, 2018, in Lexington, Tennessee. He was born February 24, 1936, in Aliquippa, PA, son of the late F. Harper and Gertrude (Shaffer) Shannon. John married Jane in December of 1985 and moved to Darden, TN to retire and enjoy their golden years. John had a passion for restoring classic vehicles. He enjoyed showing them with his wife. John was also an accomplished woodworker and craftsman. He is survived by daughter Sandi (Mike) Chavis of Fleming Island, FL, Todd H Shannon, Loveland, CO, Tim Shannon, Lexington, TN, daughter-in-law Carolyn Wondrow of Somers, MT, daughter Nelda (Dave) Byers of Warrenville, IL, daughter Ruth (Harry) Horak, of Boulder City, NV.; 7 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren; sisters Mary Wright, of Houston, TX, and Ethel Miller, of Towanda, PA; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his beloved wife Jane; four brothers, Presley, James, Robert, and Richard; and four sisters, Elaine McCandless, Grace Calloway, Jean Bangal, and Marjorie Chaffee. A memorial service will be held at St Andrews Catholic Church on Saturday, May 5, 2018, at TBD pm Donations to the H.O.P.E. Ministries of Lexington, 169 Holly Street, Lexington, TN 38351 to carry on John’s legacy of caring would be appreciated in lieu of flowers.
