Lora Young

8/15/1957 – 6/28/2022

Elaine Young, 64, of Lexington, TN passed away at her home in Blue Goose on June 28, 2022. Lora was born in Waco, TX to Beatrice and James “Jim” Young on August 15, 1957. She graduated from Waco High School class of 1975 and attended the University of Houston-Downtown, where she studied Emergency Medicine. She lived a life of service to every community she lived in. In 1979 she began her career in EMS as an Emergency Care Attendant with Texas EMS Ambulance Service. She later worked for Texas EMS and Best Care EMS as a medical biller and coder until she retired. She moved to Blue Goose, TN in 2003, where she volunteered at Westover Elementary School in the library, and at Lexington High School with the LHS Marching Tigers Band and concession stand. Additionally, she put in many years of service at the Henderson County Humane Society and the Frances Halbrook Hensley Animal Shelter, where she was their very first volunteer. She was named the shelter’s Volunteer of the Year in 2019. She spent every Monday she was able volunteering for the Shepherd’s House & “Meals on Wheels”, bringing meals to the needy in Henderson County. She loved music, singing, trivia, and animals, and always put others before herself. Lora is preceded in death by her mother, Beatrice, and father, James “Jim” Young. Lora is survived by her two sons, Jeremy (Hannah) Cooke, of Bogart, GA, and Kyle (Robyn)Cooke, of Lexington, TN, and her brother, Mike Young, of Danbury, TX. Lora’s Memorial Service will be held on July 23rd, 2022 at Henderson County Crematorium at 200 Pine Dr, Lexington, TN.

Shelter at 78 Mig Dr, Lexington, TN or the Lexington High School Band Boosters.
